You will need an internet connection for the new phonelines but that is something you will be able to arrange with your phone provider. We recommend having internet for the Smartlife Alarm to work to it's full potential, but it isn't necessary as long as you have good mobile signal in your home.

It is currently underway around the UK, going area by area. Unfortunately we will not be informed when our members are switched over, we recommend getting in touch with your telephone provider and they should be able to keep you updated.

In good conscious we wouldn't upgrade anyone where the alarm is unable to function as it should. We recommend staying with the current alarm until their telephone has been switched over and they have an internet connection, and then to give us a call to arrange the upgrade.

We completely understand the switchover is out of many people's control, as well as ours. We are doing our best to absorb as much of this cost as possible to ensure our members the opportunity to upgrade as soon as possible. The additional costs cover arranging the brand new equipment and increase in renewal costs are due due to the additional benefits the SL has (then we normally list through the benefits)

When will my provider switch me?

We haven't been informed by the telephone suppliers when your lines will be switched or if you already have been. However that doesn't mean that you have to wait to upgrade to the new, improved digital alarm as, subject to a couple of checks that we would do before you order, it will work immediately.

Why are you charging for this given that my telephone supplier isn’t?

Telephone suppliers have received some funding to upgrade the network. However they own the digital network and it's in their interest and is their responsibility to make sure that the infrastructure is future-proofed and fit for purpose. They have these improvements factored into their financial plans already. We have done our best to absorb some of the costs.

Am I losing my landline altogether?

No, they simply changing the type of wiring coming into your house which should mean better quality calls and quicker connection rates.
