On May 6th, the nation and the Commonwealth will come together to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Some of us may be old enough to remember the coronation of the late Queen in 1953, but for most of us it’s a never-seen-before spectacle. This momentous occasion is also an opportunity for families and communities to come together. With that in mind, we are looking at a selection of activities you can take part in with your loved ones over the coronation weekend.
Watch the Ceremony with Your Community
The Coronation is set to be broadcast live on ITV, Sky, and the BBC, and people across the world are sure to tune in to witness it. However, you don’t have to watch it at home. Public screenings are being arranged throughout the UK, bringing people together to celebrate the crowning of the King.

If you ca’t get to a screening near you, why not consider inviting friends or family around and watch together. Everyone could bring some snacks or drinks to make it a proper event. This is also an effective way to combat loneliness.
Attend a Big Lunch
Throughout the Coronation Weekend, streets and communities across the UK will come together to attend Big Lunches. This is an initiative that has been launched by the Eden Project to bring people together and celebrate the occasion.
