‘Devastated’, that is the word being used this week as we all heard the tragic news of the death of Carrie Fisher. Described by many as a brave, eccentric and talented lady, Carrie Fisher will forever be remembered in our hearts for so many of the great things she did, but none more so than for her role as Princess Leia in the epic Star Wars franchise.

Tribute To A Star
The actress passed away on Monday, shortly after suffering a heart attack on a flight to Los Angeles from London. The world was left in shock, expressing their sorrow and paying tribute via social media outlets.
Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars franchise, simply stated in a tweet, “No words #Devastated”.
Where It Started
She captivated our hearts with her wit and determination as the rebel princess when she was merely 21 years old in Star Wars: A New Hope and has remained firmly there ever since. We spurred her and the rebels on with breathless awe and could not help but be enchanted by the on-screen romance between Leia and Han Solo.
The Star Wars franchise catapulted her to super stardom where she played Leia in three Star Wars movies from 1977 to 1983, and again in 2015 in The Force Awakens, as she became one of the world’s favourite actresses.
Carrie Fisher not only appeared in many films over her career but she was also one of Hollywood’s top script doctors, where she worked on screenplays of other writers, such as Lethal Weapon 3, Sister Act and The Wedding Singer.
Her writing skills were noted greatly as she has also penned several successful novels, such as Postcards from the Edge which she also wrote the screenplay for.
Outspoken
Carrie Fisher also publicly voiced issues around mental health including her own experiences with bipolar disorder and drug usage, she believed speaking out would bring about empathy to these issues and help find a creative solution to them.
This emphasised her bravery and emotional fearlessness that we all associate with her!
One Final Hooray
Luckily, for all her fans, Carrie Fisher had finished filming her scenes for the next instalment in one of the most epic franchises in movie history, so we will wait in eager anticipation to see her in her final appearance.
