Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Got a question? We've answered the ones we hear most often below. If you can't find what you're looking for, our team is always happy to help.

A personal alarm watch is a small wearable device that allows you to call for help at the press of a button. It’s designed for older adults or anyone who may need support in an emergency, whether at home or out and about. It can also be referred to as an alarm watch for the elderly.

When activated, the fall alarm watch connects you to a trained response team through Careline365’s EverNear service, so someone can speak with you and arrange help straight away.

When a personal alarm watch is pressed, or if fall detection is triggered automatically, it sends an alert through to our 24/7 emergency Care Team.

Within seconds, a trained responder will speak to you through the device to understand what’s happened and decide what help is needed.  Find out more about how fall detection works here.

Our Personal Alarm Watch keeps things simple. There are no complicated menus or apps to navigate, just a straightforward device that connects you directly to our 24/7 emergency Care Team at the press of a button.

Unlike many smartwatches, it doesn't rely on being paired with a mobile phone to make a call, so it works independently, wherever you are.

That said, simple doesn't mean basic. The Personal Alarm Watch also tracks your steps and monitors your key health stats, so you can keep an eye on your wellbeing day to day, all from your wrist.

If you activate your personal alarm and can’t speak, or if an alert is raised automatically through fall detection, the Careline365 Care Team will still take action.

If there is silence or anything unusual, they will assess the situation and follow the appropriate steps to get you help.

This may include trying to contact you on your home or mobile, then reaching out to your emergency contacts or the emergency services if needed.

A personal alarm watch is for anyone who wants to feel safer and more supported, especially older adults, people living alone, or those with health conditions or mobility concerns. It’s ideal for people who want to continue living independently at home, with the reassurance that help is always available at the press of a button.

It also gives families peace of mind that their loved one can quickly connect to a trained response team in an emergency.

When the emergency watch for the elderly is pressed, you are connected to a trained responder within seconds through Careline365’s EverNear service. They will speak with you to understand what’s happened and stay on the line while arranging the appropriate help.

This may include contacting a family member, caregiver, or emergency services, depending on the situation. If the alarm is pressed accidentally, that’s no problem. The team will simply check that you’re safe before ending the call.

EverNear is Careline365’s personal alarm service, providing 24/7 monitoring and emergency response support. When a personal alarm is activated, EverNear connects you to a trained team who can speak with you, assess the situation, and arrange help quickly.

It's designed to connect you to help when it matters most, whether you're at home or out and about.

At Careline365, plans are from £1 a day and are tailored to each person to make sure they receive the right level of protection.

The personal alarm watch costs £99; it is a one-off cost and is yours to keep.

Your alarm is there to be used, whether that's in an emergency, an accidental press, or your regular monthly test call.

This typical usage is well below our Fair Usage threshold, so most members will never be affected by this.

If we notice unusually high usage on your account, we may get in touch to check that everything is okay and make sure you have the right level of support in place.

In rare cases where usage is exceptionally high over a sustained period, charges may apply under our Fair Usage Policy.

If you'd like to see the full policy, just get in touch and we'll send it over.

Careline365's Alarm Watch use an unlocked SIM card, it will need a mobile signal to connect to us. If you are in a location which has no available mobile signal then an alarm call cannot be made, you will not be able to speak with our Care Team, and our Care Team will not be able to know your location. This is the same as, for example, when you try to make a phone call from a mobile phone when you have no signal – it cannot connect.

A 4G signal is recommended for faster connections to our Care Team.

Your safety is our priority, and we are committed to providing technology that supports your independence with confidence and security.

Alarm Watch Locator

Our Alarm Watch comes with a free locator device to use in-home. This can improve in home location accuracy such as in a block of flats, where there can be weak spots in mobile signal. Your Alarm Watch will still require a mobile signal to wirelessly connect to your locator, and to make and receive alarm calls when you are at home.

Fall detection is designed to recognise sudden, hard impacts while filtering out everyday movements. No fall detector can detect every fall. Slower falls, like gradually slipping from a chair or catching yourself on the way down, may not always be detected. How and where you wear the device can also make a difference.

When a fall is detected, the alarm device pauses for a few seconds to check if you're okay. If it detects movement, it assumes you're alright and won't call our team.

If there's no response and no movement, you’ll normally be connected to our team in seconds, day or night. They'll assess the situation and arrange the help you need - emergency services, your emergency contacts, or simply a reassuring check-in. Even if you’re unable to speak, we'll follow our specific procedure to get the right help to you.

Fall detection can provide additional reassurance, but it cannot detect every fall and should not be relied on as the only way to raise an alert. Whenever you are able, pressing your button yourself is the most reliable way to contact our team.
