4 Myths About Personal Alarms You Should Dismiss

There is plenty to know about our personal alarms and the service we offer, and we try to make it as clear as possible for our customers to understand. There can be some confusion or assumptions made about personal alarms so we’re here today to clear the top four myths up about personal alarms.

1 – They’re expensive and overpriced

One of the common myths is that people think personal alarms are expensive and overpriced. This isn’t the case. At Careline, we provide the UK’s cheapest prices with plans to suit every individual. We have three different types of plans which include:

The Monthly plan costs just £13.89 per month. The Careline Monthly Plan is for those who want the full protection of a Careline Alarm without the large upfront cost. The first quarter (three months) is paid in advance. Following this, payments are charged quarterly by Direct Debit.

The Careline Yearly Plan is £166.68, currently £125.00 on sale, and is our most cost effective tariff. For the equivalent of £2.40 a week, it offers peace of mind for you and your loved ones at an affordable price.

The third plan is the Fall Detector Plan. The Careline Fall Detector plan is for those who want all the benefits of our standard alarm with the added security of a fall detecting pendant. The Careline Fall Detector Yearly Plan includes:

  • Careline Alarm Base Unit (complete with all adaptors and cables).
  • Careline Vibby Fall Detector Pendant – can be worn as a necklace or around the wrist as a bracelet/watch.
  • 24/7 Monitoring Service.

2 – They’re difficult to set up and install

Contrary to belief, our elderly personal alarms are very simple to set up. We provide guidance every step of the way with informative printed materials and instructions from our customer service team upon order.

We even have a dedicated section on our website with a guide to your personal alarm and an FAQs section if you ever do get stuck.

3 – Uncomfortable and unattractive to wear

Another myth! The pendant alarm is actually very small and discreet. It’s also lightweight, so you’ll never feel your wearing it. The pendant is wearable in a number of different ways. You can wear it around your neck on a neck cord, on the wrist with a wrist strap or even on a belt clip.

In a standard white and red colour scheme, with rounded edges, it’s by no means ugly, nor uncomfortable to wear. You can even wear it in the shower so there is no need to constantly keep taking it off.

4 – Myself or my relative won’t use it

There might be a bit of stigma revolved around an elderly personal alarm, and we understand that some users might be at first too proud to admit they require one or may express they won’t ever use it. Unfortunately, the elderly are suffering from more falls than ever before. The NHS say that around one in three adults over 65 who live at home will have at least one fall a year.

When it comes to an emergency situation, these personal alarms are a life saver and really do give the user peace of mind. With the touch of a button help can be on hand potentially within the hour. If you know yourself or a loved one is at risk from falls and live independently a pendant alarm should be viewed as an aid to continue living independently safely in your own home.
