In this part of our senior discounts blog series, we look at the discounts that are available across different shops, both online and in-store. Plus, we’ve included some entertainment discounts.
As an over-60 you can be entitled to up to 10% discount in certain stores, and receive some great offers, all of which we will discuss here today. We previously touched on all the offers that seniors can receive in restaurants.

Boots
You may already know about the Boots Advantage card, whereby you can collect three points for every pound that is spent. With one point equating to a penny, over time these points stack up and can be used to purchase goods. Isn’t that great? Of course, it’s not just the over-60s who can sign up for an Advantage card, but if you are over 60 you’re entitled to collect eight points for every pound spent on branded products.
This added bonus is fantastic news and can allow you to save even more points. As soon as you collect enough you can perhaps treat yourself to a gift or maybe save the points for Christmas or an upcoming birthday. Either way, they are yours to use whenever you wish.
Specsavers
Glasses can be an unavoidable cost for many over-60s. Fortunately, Specsavers offer 20% off a range of glasses and lenses for anyone over the age of 60.
With a substantial range available, that the offer can be redeemed against, you’re sure to find something that suits your needs. They also occasionally run 2 for 1 offer in addition to this offer, so if you need that extra pair of glasses you’re sorted.

Odeon – Entertainment
Visit the cinema! It’s a great way to relax once all of the shopping has been done. Odeon offer special screenings for over-60s, known as Silvers.
During a Silver Cinema screening you will find:
- Tickets are from £3.50 each.
- It’s open to anyone aged 55 and over.
- It includes tea, coffee, and biscuits before your film.
- Discover old classics or new blockbuster hits.
It’s a great way to get out of the house and meet up with friends. Socialise before the film and then relax into a timeless cinema experience.
